1 run enough to beat Brewers

by
Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee Brewers.

The Chicago White Sox captured the rubber game of the final interleague series of the season against the Milwaukee Brewers, 1-0 in 10 innings at US Cellular Field on Sunday.  Eduardo Escobar delivered a pinch hit, walk off, RBI single against Manny Parra (0-2) to win it.   The Brewers wasted a strong start from rookie Michael Fiers who pitched seven and third scoreless innings, scattering six hits while striking out four.   The Brewers had some chances to score in regulation. Alex Rios robbed Corey Hart of a two run homer in the 6th by leaping above the right field wall to catch the line drive.  Milwaukee had runners of first and second with one out in the top of the 9th but after a strikeout, Nyjer Morgan was caught too far off second base and was tagged in a rundown.  Ryan Braun's single extended his hitting streak to 18 games overall and he's hit safely in 28 straight interleague games.  Milwaukee (33-39) remains six and a half games behind NL Central leading Cincinnati and they open a big three game series against the Reds at the Great American Ballpark Monday night sending Yovani Gallardo against Matt Latos.
