MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - In an unusual move, the Wisconsin Assembly passed the proposed two-year state budget without much of a debate. The abrupt vote was 55-42. GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Last month, a jury awarded two brothers who were sexually abused by a former Green Bay priest $700,000 dollars in a civil fraud lawsuit, now the diocese wants a new trial. The Green Bay Catholic Diocese was found liable after it let a priest with a history of sexual abuse to serve without telling parishioners of the abuse.  The jury deliberated for nearly five hours, before coming back with a guilty verdict.  The diocese have now filed a motion over one of the juror’s “incorrect responses” to a pre-trial survey, and say another juror later said that they had family that attended the church in 1978 when the molestation occurred against the Merryfield brothers.  The diocese says the jurors demonstrated obvious bias, and they did not receive a fair trial.  A hearing on the motion has been scheduled for June 26th.
