GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - It could be the largest stockholders’ meeting ever.
The Green Bay Packers are getting ready for their annual meeting on Tuesday, July 24th at Lambeau Field.
Normally, only 7,000 to 10,000 people attend the stockholders’ meetings, and the record was close to 19,000 in 1998. That was when they added 100,000 new owners.
Last winter, the Packers added a quarter-million more owners. And they’re planning for a full house of 50,000 or maybe more for this year’s meeting.
The Packers sent proxy statements this week to 363,000 shareholders, encouraging them to vote online or by phone for a slate of directors. They also want to know in advance how many people to expect at the July 24th meeting.
Owners will generally not be allowed to bring guests because of the uncertain size of the expected crowd. They will get an option to watch it online.
