MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) - A short police chase in Manitowoc involving a stolen pick-up truck and runaway teen ends with a crash and shots fired.  Manitowoc Police say they got a call at 7:18 a.m. concerning a reckless driver on the city’s southwest side.  The truck was seen crossing the center line, hitting the gravel and running stops signs.  Deputy Chief of Police Bridget Brennan says the officer located the truck and tried to stop it, but it instead hit the gas and reached speeds of 60 mph and traveled through the downtown and a residential neighborhood.  The officer attempted to box the truck in, was side swiped, and the truck hit a light pole and came to a stop.  Brennan says an officer fired several shots after that, but could not say why as the incident is under investigation still.  The driver was a runaway 14-year-old boy from Piatt County in Illinois.
