It was a banner weekend for Green Bay's Notre Dame Academy. The Tritons boys tennis team captured the Division 2 State Team tennis championship on Saturday with a 4-3 victory over University School of Milwaukee. Junior Scott Wall clinched the team title in his number one singles match, coming back after losing the first set 3-6 to take the next two, 6-2, 6-2. Notre Dame capped a perfect season, winning all 20 matches in capturing their first state championship. The boys lacrosse team won the Division 2 Wisconsin LaCrosse Federation state title with a 12-8 victory over Sauk Prairie on Saturday in Whitewater. Francis Girard and Peter Coleman each scored three times in the victory. Not to be outdone, the girls soccer team is returning to the WIAA State tournament for the second year in a row after beating Ashland 3-2 in overtime in the sectional final Saturday in Stevens Point. Nadia Dervish netted the game winning goal six minutes into overtime. The Tritons will face Mount Horeb in the semifinals on Friday. The De Pere Redbirds also reached the state tournament with a 3-0 sectional final victory over Sheboygan South. De Pere will meet Waukesha West in the Division 1 quarterfinals Thursday afternoon at the Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
