GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Harbors in Superior, Green Bay, and Sheboygan will share about $7 million in state funds to improve their shipping facilities.
Governor Scott Walker announced the funding as part of the state’s Harbor Assistance Program. Superior is getting the most money – around $4.7 million dollars to preserve an 80-year-old dock used by General Mills.
The state DOT says a crib bulkhead wall is wearing out – and the dock could be threatened if it’s not improved. Also, Sheboygan County received $1.5 million from the state to help remove contaminated sediment from the harbor and the Sheboygan River.
Noble Petro was given $720,000 for improvements aimed at boosting the company’s oil exports from Green Bay. The program normally covers about 80-percent of a project. Recipients provide the rest
