The Chicago Cubs ran roughshod over the Milwaukee Brewers in a series opener at Miller Park Tuesday night, winning 10-0. Ryan Dempster, who hadn't won a start since last August (18 starts), dominated by setting down the first 15 Milwaukee hitters. The perfect game ended in the sixth with a couple of singles by Colby Ransom and Carlos Gomez. The bullpen shut down the Crew the rest of the way as Milwaukee managed only five hits. Meanwhile, Yovani Gallardo served up a three run homer to Alfonso Soriano in the first inning and Paul Baker added a three run shot in the 9th to finish the night. Gallardo lasted 6 innings, giving up five runs while striking out 10. Milwaukee (24-31) will send Zack Greinke to the hill against Paul Maholm in game two Wednesday night.
The Major League Baseball first year draft continued Tuesday with Milwaukee selecting an outfielder, Tyrone Taylor in the second round. The Brewers then selected three pitchers, Zach Quintana, Tyler Wagner and Damien Magnifico.
