Johnson: recall sends a message

by

UNDATED (WRN) U.S. Senator Ron Johnson says the laws allowing recalls are being misused. “The recall was never intended to handle policy disputes, that’s what regular elections are about,” he told reporters last month.

The Oshkosh Republican called the current situation “chaos,” and say voters should back Governor Walker June 5 as a way to “end the recall.”

He said Walker losing would send a “terrible message” to elected officials Washington that getting one’s fiscal house in order leads to punishment. Johnson points to the massive federal budget deficit. “It’s a thousand times worse; elected officials in Washington are going to have to have courage.”

Conversely, he said Walker winning would give tremendous momentum for Republican candidates in the U.S. Senate and Presidential races.

Wisconsin’s other U.S. Senator is throwing his weight behind recall challenger Tom Barrett. This weekend, Democrat Herb Kohl campaigned for the Milwaukee Mayor.

Former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold is making stops today for Barrett in Madison, Milwaukee and Kenosha.
