TOWN OF MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) - A man who threatened to kill himself kept Town of Menasha police in a standoff situation for hours early this morning.  Police responded to the 1200 block of Brunette Street for a call about a 35-year-old man with a gun who was threatening to harm himself.  Upon arrival, a woman came out to and told authorities an infant was still inside.  Unable to make any further contact with the man, SWAT was killed in.  They were able to talk with the man face to face and he finally surrendered after around 9 a.m., over four hours after the suicidal call came in.  The baby was safe, and sound asleep.

The man was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.  Police are recommending charges of 2nd Degree Reckless Endangerment, Battery, Criminal Damage to Property, and Disorderly Conduct.
