OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - A man who died after jumping into the Fox River from a bridge in downtown Oshkosh is being ruled an accidental drowning. Oshkosh police say the 52-year-old man was intoxicated when he jumped from the Main Street Bridge around 3:45 p.m. Monday. Apparently the man wanted to go for a swim and was heading back to the north bank when he went under. Oshkosh Fire Department and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Dive Team pulled the man’s body from the river around 45 minutes later and emergency crews tried to revive him. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The man’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
