BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) - A 28-year-old Bellvue man is arrested after he allegedly left his three young children inside a locked vehicle during an extremely hot Thursday.
It happened at the Target store parking lot in Bellevue.
The kids, ages two-and-a-half, one-and-a-half and four-months-old, were in the back in car seats. The vehicle was not running, the doors were locked and the windows were cracked about an inch.
Brown County Sheriff's officials say the kids were left inside the vehicle for approximately 13 minutes before a passerby heard crying sounds. That person alerted authorities.
The children were busted out and taken to St. Vincent Hospital for fluids and then released to their mother.
Brown County Sheriff's Capt. David Konrath says the man simply made a bad choice.
"His intent wasn't to hurt the children, but he just wasn't using common sense," said Konrath. “You need to be cognizant of that, that those kind of conditions will cause harm from heat stroke to heat exhaustion."
The male suspect was arrested on three misdemeanor charges of child neglect. The case is being referred to child protective services
