MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - State Democrats confirmed Tuesday morning that three present and former lawmakers will run for the Senate in the expected recall elections.
All three had been expected to run.
Wausau Representative Donna Seidel will try to unseat Republican Pam Galloway.
Former Racine Senator John Lehman will try to get his old job back, after he lost to Van Wanggaard in 2010. And former Assembly Democrat Kristin Dexter of Eau Claire will run against Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls.
Democrats did not announce a challenger to a 4th senator who was targeted, GOP Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald.
State Democratic chairman Mike Tate said his party is, "poised to complete the job of taking back the Senate which was begun last spring." But Fitzgerald called Seidel, Lehman, and Dexter "retread candidates" who will provide a stark contrast to the GOP's, "fiscal responsibility and pro-jobs leadership."
Seidel is in her fourth term in the Assembly. She told supporters in Wausau that among other things, Democrats would push to restore full collective bargaining for public employee unions, after Walker and his fellow Republicans stripped them away last year.
Marathon County Democratic chairman Jeff Johnson had earlier said he would run against Galloway. But he's stepping aside to support Seidel. And if she wins, he plans to run for her old Assembly seat.
