STILLWATER, MN (WTAQ) - A nurse from northwest Wisconsin has been put on three years’ probation for stealing narcotic painkillers from a Minnesota hospital where she used to work.
45-year-old Della Thalin of New Richmond pleaded guilty in October to a federal charge of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
She’ll stay out of prison, even though she could have been received a 4-year sentence.
Thalin admitted stealing hydromorphone for her own use while she worked at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater.
She took the drug from the hospital’s storage cabinets last February and March using her employee ID and password.
Her lawyer said no patients were harmed. Hospital officials reported the theft after Thalin left.
