WAUPUN, WI (WTAQ) - A state prison officer at Waupun is free on a signature bond, after being accused of having an 18-month sexual relationship with an inmate.
33-year-old Jolene Mason of Beaver Dam is charged in Dodge County with 3 felony counts of second-degree sexual assault by a correctional staffer, and one felony charge of giving illegal articles to an inmate.
Investigators said they obtained a letter from Mason. She allegedly used an alias in writing that she loved the inmate, and mentioning sex between the two.
Prosecutors said Mason had sexual contact with the prisoner more than a dozen times ending last year. She also allegedly gave the inmate a cell phone so they could chat – plus food, jewelry, and other items.
Mason is due back in court February 2nd, when a judge will determine if there’s enough evidence to order a trial.
