The 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season will rev up tomorrow night with the 34th running of the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway. This year's scheduled 75-lap preseason race will feature a field of 25 cars and serves as a dress rehearsal for the Daytona 500 and Gatorade Duels, the twin 150-mile qualifying races for the 500.
The starting lineup for the Shootout will be determined during a random drawing held this evening. Sunday's qualifying at Daytona will determine the front starting row for the Daytona 500, which is a week from Sunday.
The remainder of the 43-car field will be decided in next Thursday’s Gatorade Duels, which we’ll have on the radio along with the Daytona 500. Our live coverage of the Budweiser Shootout on AM 1590 and the New FM 95.5 begins tomorrow night at seven o’clock.
