MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A judge in Madison said Monday afternoon he would reconsider a request to stop Wisconsin’s new voter ID law from taking effect before a trial in the case can begin. Dane County Circuit Judge David Flanagan rejected a temporary injunction request last week from the NAACP. He said the group did not prove that the photo ID law would cause irreparable harm while a trial could be heard on the matter. But today, Flanagan said he’ll look at new testimony – and he’ll re-schedule the injunction hearing for February 24th. That’s three days after the voter ID law will be required for the first time in the local primaries to be held a week from tomorrow. The NAACP contends that the photo ID requirement for voting discourages minorities and other groups from going to the polls. Two similar lawsuits against the measure are still pending.
