APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - The city of Appleton's health department have been hamstrung thanks to one confirmed case of tuberculosis along with 69 confirmed cases of pertussis.
Director Kurt Eggebrecht says his staff has had to take resources from other programs to help combat the illnesses.
The one confirmed case of TB is from an Appleton North High school student.
Meantime, the cases of pertussis, or whooping cough, are in school-age children at 13 different schools, including North.
School officials say they're working to keep parents up to date as quickly as possible about the illnesses.
At North High School, about 300 students and staff will be tested for tuberculosis on February 21st as part of the health department's contact investigation.
