BLACK RIVER FALLS, WI (WTAQ) - An outside investigator said the Black River Falls School District was not at fault, after a 16-year-old high school junior killed herself in a drug overdose which followed two years of being bullied.

The district hired an independent investigator, who found that school officials properly handled the incidents against Ta’Shika Tengler according to the district’s policies.

The girl was found dead at her home last November 10th.

The school launched the investigation after Tengler’s mother accused officials of doing nothing to stop more than 2 years of verbal and physical bullying even though the girl pleaded for help.

Superintendent Ron Saari told WWIS Radio in Black River Falls that the investigator looked at 7 key points involving the incidents – and in each one, there was no evidence to support the allegations.

Saari said any issues were brought forward timely and effectively – and the district remains sympathetic to Tengler’s family.

The state Justice Department is still investigating the death.
