GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - Grand Haven officials will study the possibility of having auto racing in their downtown district as early as 2013. City Council last night gave the go ahead for municipal officials to study whether the proposed West Shore Grand Prix would be a good fit for the area, and how it would impact merchants and streets. Charles Steen, who promoted a similar event in Grand Rapids for a couple of years in the late 1990’s, is behind this effort that he had spelled out to council members last month. City Council late last year put a moratorium on any further summer civic events for 2012 due to perceived oversaturation.
