SOMERS, WI (WTAQ) - The death toll from this week’s snowstorm in Wisconsin has grown to at least three.

Kenosha County authorities said an SUV driver was killed Thursday, after slamming into the Amtrak Hiawatha passenger train on County Trunk A in the town of Somers.

Officials said the train was coming from the right, when the SUV driver couldn’t stop in time. Witnesses said the vehicle slid about 150-feet off the roadway, across a ditch and onto the train tracks.

The Hiawatha was traveling from Chicago to Milwaukee. 89 passengers and three crew members were on board when the crash occurred. None of them were hurt, but Amtrak services were disrupted for a few hours as a direct result of the mishap.

The name of the SUV driver was not immediately released.

The other two storm-related deaths occurred on Wednesday night in a car-semi crash west of Janesville.
