OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - Oshkosh police say a man was shot at his apartment during an attempted robbery.

Authorities say two men stopped at the victim's apartment in the 400 block of Merritt Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say one of the suspects pulled a gun when the 26-year-old victim opened his door.

The victim told police he tried to take the gun away from the suspect, but instead got shot. He was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

After the shooting, the suspects ran away.

Police believe the victim was targeted and this is not a random act. They also don’t believe there is a threat to the public.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Hinke or Detective Krueger at (920) 236-5700.

If you have information and would like to remain anonymous, call Winnebago County Wide Crime Stoppers at (920) 231-8477.
