MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Individuals who want to teach in Wisconsin schools may be able to do so without traditional certification.
State Superintendent Tony Evers announced Monday that a new equivalency license will allow those with at least three years of teaching experience in a private setting or in a child care facility to get into the public school system.
Candidates would be required to pass a performance-based assessment.
Governor Scott Walker addressed the new plan with enthusiasm saying it will help get qualified teachers into high need areas.
