APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - The Outagamie County coroner's officer has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Appleton Friday night.

An autopsy was performed on 61-year-old Keith A. Gabriel Saturday, but officials won't release further details.

Appleton Police Chief Peter Helein says officers were called to 120 East Spring Street around 9:15 p.m. Friday for a report of illegal fireworks. When they arrived, they found Gabriel holding a gun.

Helein says Sgt. Greg Pieper radioed for help and told Gabriel to drop the gun. Helein says Pieper then shot Gabriel, who died at the scene. The Appleton Post-Crescent is reporting back in 2000, Gabriel threatened to chase off any city employee who comes on his propoerty. That's according to a criminal complaint filed against Gabriel.

There were also complaints filed against Gabriel's home. In 2008, someone complained about peeling pain on his garage, and in overflowing garbage in 2010.

The Green Bay Police Department are investigating because an Appleton officer was involved in the shooting.
