SAN DIEGO (WTAQ) - Fans of the Green Bay Packers will be glad Thursday's pre-season opener was just that, rather than week one of the regular season, as the green and gold looked sloppy from beginning to end in their 21-13 loss to the San Diego Charges at Qualcomm Stadium.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled, with an interception and a fumble during the first 3 series of the game.
Backup quarterback Graham Harrell played most of the game, finishing 15-of-27 for 135 yards with a touchdown. Rookie free agent running back Marc Tyler scored the Packers only other touchdown on a 1-yard plunge in the 4th quarter.
Starting linebacker Desmond Bishop left the game early in the 1st quarter with a knee injury and did not return.
Two turnovers in the opening period led to a go-ahead score for the Chargers on a 23-yard TD pass from Philip Rivers to tight end Antoino Gates.
History was made Thursday night as Shannon Eastin became the first woman to officiate an NFL game, by serving as a line judge for the seven-man crew of replacement officials.
