APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Police in Appleton are investigating a reported armed robbery near City Park overnight.

A man flagged down an officer around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and told the cop he had been robbed at gunpoint about 10 minutes earlier. He said he was walking along Franklin Street when two men came up to him.

One of the men displayed a gun and demanded the victim's property. Police would not specify what was taken. The robbers then ran off through City Park to the north.

Police say one of the robbers was white, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, 20 to 30 years old, with a slender build. His hair was a buzz cut that was growing out. The other man was black, also between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, 20 to 30 years old, with a slender build. His hair was in cornrows with white beads.
