GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has announced they're going back to the future with their women's basketball program.
In a statement Wednesday, the school says it will introduce former Phoenix women's coach Kevin Borseth as it's new head coach at a press conference Thursday.
Borseth was 216-62 in nine seasons with UWGB from 1998 through 2007. The Phoenix made it to the post-season each year, including 7 NCAA tournament appearances.
Borseth left Green Bay for the University of Michigan after the 2007 season. In five seasons with Wolverines, he went 87-73, including the team's trip to the NCAA tournament this past season.
In the statement, Borseth said “My family and I are so thrilled to return to Green Bay and to the many friends and fans in the community. I am really excited to get to know the current players on the team and to continue to move Green Bay women’s basketball forward."
Former coach Matt Bollant left last month to take over as head coach at the University of Illinois after guiding the Phoenix to a 31-2 record, winning the Horizon League title and making it to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The press conference will be at the Kress Events Center Thursday afternoon.
