APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Long-time Appleton Mayor Tim Hanna will keep his job.
Hanna was elected to a 5th term in office Tuesday night, defeating Alderman Curt Konetzke.
"When they (voters) offer they're support like they have, it can't be anything else but very humbling," Hanna said after getting a phone call from Konetzke on Election night.
Hanna garnered 10,163 votes unofficially, compared with just 5,097 for Konetzke. That's after Hanna says he nearly didn't seek re-election, only to change his mind.
"This is what I'm good at, this is where I grew up," said Hanna. "I have a passion for this city and all that it stands for, I'm really proud of Appleton."
His focus moving forward will be attracting business to downtown Appleton, construction of the new Expo Center, transformation of the riverfront and securing more funding for Valley Transit.
