Two people have been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of Kenard Gipson at a home on South 8th street. 20 year old Charles Jarrett had failed to register as a sex offender which is why he was arrested by the Special Response Team. He was then connected to the Thursday morning shooting. Officials think that the shooting was the result of a botched robbery attempt. 21 year old Stephen Newcom was arrested for assisting a criminal for picking up Jarrett at the scene of the crime. Jarrett now faces charges of murder, robbery, and failure to register as a sex offender.
