OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - A man from Fremont has been ordered to stand trial, for allegedly causing a traffic crash that killed a woman’s unborn baby.
22-year-old Joshua Ozment is scheduled to enter a plea October 3rd in Winnebago County Circuit Court to a felony charge of negligent homicide.
Authorities said Emily Kiecker was five-and-a-half months’ pregnant when her car was struck head-on by Ozment’s vehicle south of Fremont on County Trunk H.
Her baby died in the crash, which happened in September of 2009.
Prosecutors said it took a long time to file charges because of the process of re-constructing the crash scene – and they had to research laws dealing with the death of unborn children.
The State Patrol said Ozment was driving up to 73 miles an hour when his vehicle lost control on a curve.
