MERILL, WI (WTAQ) - Police in Merrill said it was super-easy to round up evidence against three people accused of possessing and selling meth-amphetamines and morphine.

All they had to do was check the garbage the defendants took to the curb each week during September. Officers say they found empty pill bottles and syringes – and it was enough to obtain a search warrant which they executed this week.

It resulted in a dozen criminal charges against three people.

42-year-old George Hill is charged in Lincoln County with possessing meth and narcotics, both felonies, plus a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia. 30-year-old LeAnna Wells faces the same three counts, plus maintaining a place for drug trafficking. 21-year-old Melissa Lemke is charged with felony counts of possessing meth, and having paraphernalia to manufacture and store meth. She’s also charged with three counts of bail jumping related to previous crimes.

All three are free on signature bonds, but the two women have 6 p.m. curfews each evening.

Hill and Wells are due back in court a week from tomorrow. Lemke’s next court date is November 15th.
