MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) - Almost $5 million in federal money will be spent to help train workers for today's modern manufacturing jobs in suburban Milwaukee.
The Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington Workforce Development group was the only one in the Badger State to share in $159-million given to public-and-private partnerships around the country.
The goal is to prepare more people for advanced jobs in manufacturing.
The suburban Milwaukee group is starting a four-year program called TIME – Training Individuals for Manufacturing Employment. It will help get workers ready for positions like CNC operators, tool-and-die makers, machinists, and more.
The head of the Waukesha group, Francisco Sanchez, said the new program should train around 550 people during the next four years.
