GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A fugitive sexual assault suspect from Chicago has been arrested in Green Bay.
Green Bay police say 55 year old Edward Lopez was arrested Monday.
Lt. Andy Lewis says they were tipped off by the FBI.
"We had a detective looking out for the suspect," Lewis said. "He spotted the fellow in the car, and then pulled into the Express Convenience Center on Dousman and took Edward Lopez into custody without incident."
Lewis says they were also warned that Lopez should be considered armed and dangerous based on prior arrests.
Edward Lopez also used the aliases of Kenneth Lopez, Edward Hernandez and Jose Lopez and different dates of birth to evade detection.
Lopez had been on the run since 2006. He is accused of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Efforts to return Lopez to Chicago are underway.
