MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - Crews in Milwaukee are making sure that a sinkhole that swallowed two parked cars does not get any bigger.

The hole covers 625 square feet, and it’s 10 feet deep. It was created when a large 42-inch water main broke on Saturday night near Milwaukee’s Humboldt Bridge.

Nobody was in the vehicles when they went down, and no injuries were reported. A man said was standing on some nearby concrete at the time – and the vibrations felt like a train was under his feet.

The water main break also triggered smaller breaks nearby, and flooding in a large part of Milwaukee’s north side. Residents complained when they noticed low water pressure.

Traffic returned to normal at the site Sunday. The two vehicles were still in the sinkhole, and officials were getting a crane to pull them up.
