Western Michigan yesterday afternoon advanced to the semi-finals of the Mid-American Conference tournament with a 67-to-56 win over Bowling Green. Demetrius Ward had 14 points for the West-Division champion Broncos while Flenard Whitfield added 12 points and 10 rebounds for WMU, which will take on Akron in tonight’s first game at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
In the second semi-final matchup, it’s top-seed Kent State against Ball State.
