The Green Bay Phoenix Women simply know how to win. Despite falling behind Northern Iowa 13-0 Sunday afternoon at the Kress Events Center, the 23rd ranked Phoenix got into overdrive, outscoring the Panthers 42-15 to lead 42-28 at the half and despite a late run by UNI, Green Bay held off the Panthers 75-67 to improve to 7-0 on the season. The Phoenix has now reeled off 27 straight regular season victories. Julie Wojta led the way with a career high 26 points and 13 rebounds. Lydia Bauer made 8 of 12 shots for 19 points and red shirt freshman Megan Lukan also recorded a career high with 13 points. Green Bay has a rematch with Toledo in Ohio on Thursday night.
The Green Bay men are off to a 2-0 start in the Horizon league, opening conference play with a tight win over UIC last Thursday night and following that up with a 57-47 victory over Loyola Saturday night at the Resch Center. Sophomore Alec Brown led the way with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. The Phoenix (4-4) have a tough week in-state facing Wisconsin at the Kohl Center Wednesday night and Marquette in Milwuaukee on Saturday.
