(Chicago, IL) -- With their victory last night, the Twins knocked another two games off of their "Magic Number," which now stands at ten. That means Minnesota will clinch the division via any combination of 10 Twins wins or White Sox losses. With only 17 games remaining in the season, the Twins are in a comfortable place, leading the division by eight games. The Twins record of 87-and-58 is the third best record in the American League, but only one-game behind Tampa for the league's best record. Tampa leads the A.L. East by a half-game over the Yankees. The team with the best record in the American League will get home field edge in the American League Division Series and should they advance, will also have the home field advantage in the American League Championship Series. The National League team will have home field edge in the World Series this season by virtue of the senior circuit's win in the July's All Star Game.
