Vikings Fire Coach Brad Childress

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WTAQ) - Brad Childress is out as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings.

The team posted a statement on its website saying defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier would take over on an interim basis for the rest of the season. Owner and chairman Zygi Wilf will address the media at 3 p.m. Central.

Childress led the Vikes to a 3-and-7 record to start the season, and his job was reportedly in jeopardy after he apparently decided to waive wide receiver Randy Moss against Wilf's wishes earlier this month. The team lost its last two games by a combined score of 58-16.

In four-plus seasons with Minnesota, Childress had a 39-and-35 mark. He and quarterback Brett Favre led the Vikes to a 12-and-4 regular season mark and the NFC Championship game last season.
