Sheboygan, Wis. (WHBL) - Mayor Bob Ryan has proclaimed Thursday as a National Day of Prayer in the city of Sheboygan despite recent objections from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. In his proclamation, Ryan points out that the tradition was actually begun by the Continental Congress, and he urged citizens to gather at Fountain Park, at home, or at their places of worship. The observance will be held Thursday at noon in the Fountain Park Band Shell. It’s expected to last about an hour and will be moved to the Fountain Park United Methodist Church in the event of inclement weather.
