SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - With Sheboygan’s City Council set to debate lifting the Fire Department’s hiring freeze, the Fire Chief is trying to dispel the notion of little work occurring in between calls.
Chief Jeff Hermann says he’s tried to get not only the public, but the Aldermen and women, to understand that the firefighter/paramedics in the City are not just waiting around for alarms to go off and that’s the way they like it.
If a station was to close or if the Council opted to cease operations of the ambulance service, the Chief says the misconception some people have on how a member of the department spends their day would become reality.
Discussion on whether or not to close the Southside fire station is expected Monday night as well.
