Poll: Walker leads in Governors race; Feingold in tie for Senate re-election bid

by

UNDATED (WSAU) Russ Feingold (D-WI) continues to face a tough reelection challenge. A new poll shows the four term U.S. Senator in a statistical tie with political newcomer Ron Johnson. The Rasmussen Poll of likely voters shows Feingold with 46-percent support and Johnson with 45-percent. 6-percent were undecided. The poll has a margin of error of 4 1/2 %.

Earlier polls showed Feingold trailing former governor Tommy Thompson, who decided not to get into the race.

In the race for Governor, both Republican candidates have leads over likely Democratic nominee Tom Barrett. Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker leads Barrett 49 to 41-percent. Former Congressman Mark Neumann leads Barrett 47 to 39-percent. In each hypothetical match-up 7-percent were undecided.

Governor Doyle’s job approval rating was at a new low of 35-percent, down 6-points from the previous survey.

58-percent of likely Wisconsin voters favor a repeal of the recently passed healthcare reform bill. 39-percent are opposed.

The polls had a sample size of 500, and were conducted earlier this week.
