MADISON, Wis. (Midwest Communications) - 51 Wisconsin Chrysler and GM dealers have petitioned to get their franchises back. They were among thousands of dealers throughout the country who lost their ability to sell their automakers’ products, after GM and Chrysler went bankrupt a year ago and had to be bailed out by taxpayers.

Nationally almost 1,600 dealers have filed requests with the American Arbitration Association to try and get their dealer affiliations back. The group says Wisconsin has the 10th-highest number of requests in the country – and it does not include dealers who’ve asked the companies directly for their affiliations back.
