SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - The City of Sheboygan’s ban on hiring additional firefighters could be a thing of the past if a committee recommendation is adopted.
The Salaries and Grievances Committee gave their stamp of approval Monday night to send a resolution lifting the hiring freeze of firefighter/paramedics. The resolution authorizes the Sheboygan Fire Department to add three new hires, bringing staffing to the recommended level. Chief Jeff Hermann says adding firefighters will keep the community safe.
The resolution will be presented to the full Common Council where it is expected to be referred back to the Finance Committee for discussion on how to fund the new personnel.
