MADISON, Wis. (Midwest Communications) - The head of the Wisconsin GOP says Democrats should be worried in the wake of Tuesday’s U.S. Senate election in Massachusetts. Voters chose Republican Scott Brown to replace the late Democrat Ted Kennedy, who held the seat for 46 years. State GOP chairman Reince Priebus says the outcome shows that folks are not happy with President Obama’s agenda and that of the Democratically-controlled Congress.
Priebus said the Wisconsin Democrats who are running for re-election should, “watch their backs” – and that includes U.S. Senator Russ Feingold and House members Steve Kagen, Ron Kind, and David Obey.
But Kagen says the election is a victory for the citizens of Massachusetts first and foremost – and he welcomes the new blood in Washington. Wisconsin Democratic Party chairman Mike Tate called Brown’s election a wake-up call. But Tate says he remains confident in the state’s Democrats, and they don’t have to change what they’re doing.
