The Red Wings last night wrapped up a 5-game road trip and were embarrassed by the New York Islanders, who blanked Detroit 6-to-0. Red Wing’s goalie Jimmy Howard, who was in net for the 10th consecutive game, allowed three goals on 20 shots before being pulled in favor of Chris Osgood, who allowed the final three goals on 11 shots. Detroit recorded a season-low 16 shots in being shutout for the fifth time this season. Tomorrow night, the Red Wings host Carolina. Tonight in the ECHL, it’s the Kalamazoo Wings at Cincinnati.
