ST. CROIX COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - An 18-year-old Minnesota driver will be sentenced May 3rd for causing a western Wisconsin car crash that killed 2 teens. Austin Pederson of Stillwater has pleaded guilty in St. Croix County to 2 counts of negligent homicide. 3 other charges were dropped in a plea bargain.
Authorities said Pederson had marijuana before his speeding vehicle went into a ditch and rolled over several times. 17-year-old Daishonna Payne and 26-year-old Alan Alwin, both of Somerset, died in the crash. Pederson, who used to live in Somerset, was injured along with a third passenger. The crash happened last June 1st in the town of Star Prairie. Investigators said Pederson was going between 77 and 84 miles an hour in a 55 zone.
