MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - A judge in Madison says it’s okay for a donor to remain anonymous, after giving $15 million for a controversial new building. The UW wants to build a $43 million facility for its School of Music on land owned by Brothers’ Bar and Grill – and the bar’s owner is fighting to stay. The bar’s lawyers wanted to question the anonymous donor about his or her finances, to back up their argument that the building might not become a reality – and it’s too soon to consider condemning the tavern’s property. But lawyers for the UW said the donor needs to be anonymous to protect his privacy and business interests. And Dane County Circuit Judge Paul Anderson sided with the university.
