GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Federal and state governmental agencies are at a stalemate over dredging of the Fox River channel in Green Bay harbor. At issue is the EPA ordering dredging of the area by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stopped because it interferes with the Fox River cleanup. But Brown County Port Manager Dean Haen says the big business of shipping is at risk.
Last year the port meant 700 jobs and $75 million in shipping business. The corps says they won't dredge until 2017. Haen believes commerce and jobs in the area are in danger of being lost if an agreement can't be worked out. The Harbor Commission will meet March 8th to discuss a strategy.
