MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - Harley-Davidson is closer to becoming Wisconsin’s official state motorcycle. An Assembly committee endorsed the designation Wednesday on a 4 to 2 party-line vote, with both Republicans voting no. It now goes to the full Assembly. Wisconsin has over 2 dozen state symbols. And Milwaukee Democrat Leon Young says Harley deserves the honor because it’s been a good company for the nation as well as Wisconsin. But Republican Joel Kleefisch of Oconomowoc said it would give nothing but a, “scrap or crumb” to a firm that’s been hurt by recent business tax increases. Harley cut 1,100 jobs a year ago.
