CEDAR GROVE, Wis. (WHBL) - After being shot down last fall, the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District is getting closer to presenting a revised referendum question to voters this spring.
Tuesday night’s special session of the Cedar Grove-Belgium School Board tackled just how voters in the district would be presented with a new referendum proposal. And while things may have been written in pencil, the referendum will most likely be for $6 million, far less than the $25 million that was rejected by voters last November. Superintendent Steve Shaw calls the referendum paramount to dealing with immediate needs in the district.
If approved at $6 million, there would be no tax increase in the district and if stimulus funds can be secured, a tax decrease could be possible. The Board will meet again February 8th to finalize wording for the referendum.
