Miller Admits(sort of) that Tea Party question was planted

by Jerry Bader

One of the many lies in the IRS scandal has been lost. It's the claim that the revelation came as the answer to a spontaneous question. But the person asking it is IRS Advisory Council member Celia Roady. Fired (sort of) IRS chief Steven Miller admitted to Congress today (sort of) that Roady was a plant:

Later, Rep. Peter Roskam (R., Ill.) picked up that thread.

REP. ROSKAM: You admit that you spoke with Ms. Lerner and Celia Roady about the planted question beforehand. Can you tell us more about that conversation?

MR. MILLER: I did not speak to Celia Roady, and I believe I did talk to Lois about the possibility of, now that the TIGTA report was finalized, now that we knew all the facts, now that we had responded in writing and everything was done, did it make sense for us to start talking about this in public.

This was a very ham handed way to try to get ahead of a report that was going to show what happened. Rather than report to Congress, as they should, they dropped this at an American Bar Association conference? I realize I may be overly optimistic, but I still feel there is a lot more to come here.
